We had to buy some clothes (we bought one outfit each, which we then washed and re-wore the second day), but SAS is refusing to refund the full amount claiming there is "lasting monetary value" to the clothes that goes beyond a simple replacement.
I don't see anything in the regulations that says they can do this, only that the costs incurred must be reasonable (only buying one set of clothes for a 2 day delay seems reasonable in my mind).
The difference is around £200. Any advice on how to pursue them for full reimbursement?
Contact your travel insurance for reimbursement
If you want to get fully reimbursed by SAS you need to surrender to SAS the clothes/items that you purchased. You can't keep the clothes, toiletries etc and claim full reimbursement as presumably they will have a residual value to you after your luggage has been delivered to you.
The comments above about getting compensated for the inconvenience caused has no merits in law/is not going to fly (in civil law countries, i.e. most of Europe)
