Stayed there a few times in the last year. It's always been busy. Plus side is the central bar and restaurant are decent places to hang out, also the Italian was good and packed midweek. The entrance bar in the Italian also seems to have Sky Sports, the main bar doesn't. Bus service was pretty reliable although would recommend booking the night before as the early morning run is busy and also coincides with the Emirates crew leaving. Gym is well stocked and they appear to do some classes, didn't join so don't know if you need to pay. Swimming pool looked decent enough and well used.

Downsides - Elite recognition is very poor (I'm Titanium). Lounge is open but not worth visiting, there is a happy hour but it's a pretty sad affair in terms of snacks and the drinks are cheap, better just to pay for your beer or wine outside. Breakfast can be taken in the restaurant but you need vouchers from reception - I didn't know and then you have to queue in the morning checkout line to get them so pretty frustrating. Quality of food is good though. Never had an upgrade in the 3 times and not even sure there are anything outside of basic rooms. Location is only good if you're going to the airport, this is not a hotel to explore Manchester from unless you want a taxi both ways.
I don’t think it was one of “those” Four Seasons hotels!

Weirdly, thirty years ago it was Manchester’s most exclusive hotel. But the rooms were never better than Hilton or Sheraton or Marriott quality - you were paying for the location (Hale Barns, not the airport).

In 1994 the average Premier League soccer player at a top club was on around $10,000 per week - now it’s around 15 times more, and their fame has gone up accordingly. And the Delta Manchester Airport is the only large hotel in the towns where those superstars live and play.

The owners have let the hotel slide from luxury level to barely Courtyard or Four Points level in terms of its substance. But its location wedged between the airport and where the rich and famous go out to play has meant that it still does a roaring trade.
