We will be traveling home from oversea, stopping at LAX then continue on to SEA on an award ticket. Spouse has some last minutes thing that needs to stay in LAX for a night. Can he just not board the last flight and buy a ticket home the next day?

I know Airlines frown on such practice but I do not want to risk losing our award seats if I change the last leg since the two of us are on the same prn. I will continue as scheduled and collect the baggage at our Destination.
