I anticipated this response and realised I should have said caveats rather than exceptions.

As you say, point is the price you see is the price you pay here.

Another big caveat of course is that restaurants in London do almost all add 12.5% (occasionally more) in service charge. That's a whole other thread and nowt to do with tax. But it does make restaurants different to the otherwise general rule that the price you see is the price you pay!
