Just reporting my recent experience (June 2024) in CDMX for the benefits of other planning their trip.

Stay: After reading this and other threads, I was focused on Roma Norte/Zona Rosa, and specifically between the Sheraton and the Four Points. At the end the difference for me was the swimming pool available at the Sheraton and I actually made great use of it. Location was perfect to also grab the Bus to Polanco on the one day we wanted to get there, walk south to Condesa to various food spots both at night and during the day, as well as visiting the Historic Centre.

Breakfast and dining: We opted for non breakfast rates at the hotel as we wanted to samples what was on offer in the city and very glad we did that. Ended up splitting our breakfast between Panaderia Rosetta on Puebla and the Ventanita Cafe, and I would recommend both. For dinner we ended up ordering through Uber one night when due to the Jet Lag we overslept our late afternoon nap and wok up too late to go out, but managed to go to Taqueria El Califa de Leon at 10pm another night, the hole in the wall, no sense Taqueria that was recently awarded a Michelin Star, and I can also recommend that although I would not think there is enough of a difference to make it a semi-destination and worth of a star, but worth trying it when in town I believe. I was a bit disappointed by our dinner at the historic Café de Tacuba on a different evening, when we spent most of the day wondering through the historic centre (beautiful location inside but prices are high and the food not good IMHO). I was interested in booking a table at Quintonil rather that Pujol (having already eat at Cosme in NYC), but I could not get a table at either that would have worked for us, but if you are a foodie like we are, I would include planning for a reservation well in advance.

What to see/visit: obviously the Historic Centre is a must with the Catedral, Templo Mayor, Palacio de Bellas Artes and visit to various Museum (bear in mind that Mondays most places are closed as discussed upthread). We used the Monday (as suggested upthread) to book our tour to Teotihuacan & Basilica Guadalupe (via Viator- again very good), which included a quick stop at the archaeological site of Tlatelolco/Plaza de las Tres Culturas. We spent a good part of one day wandering around Polanco, which was very interesting for me to observe the modern architecture of those residential building. The Antara open mall was also a good spot for window and/or proper shopping and a nice espresso and pastry in a relaxing Café.

I hope that these few notes may help you in your planning as they did for me and that CDMX end up as good to you as it was to me.
