Let me make one more attempt at analogy here, just because I think I found a reasonably applicable one -
You are in San Francisco and want to go to SFO to catch a flight. A train ticket to the airport (BART) costs $10.55. However, a train ticket to Millbrae on a direct service which stops at SFO is only $5.50. Would purchasing a ticket to Millbrae give you a legal justification to get off at the airport and hop the fare gates? A moral one?
