Others have said that they have been able to replicate this for circa £3500 per person in a basic hotel for 7 nights. Better hotels are available of course your wife will be happy to hear.

I've in fact booked such a trip (with a connection to MAN at the end) with 1 night in LAX and 4 nights in HNL, at decent 4* hotels, for £7.1k for 2 people, so £3550 p/p.

Should earn me 1840 TPs so under £2/TP even before you consider Avios earned on the flights, from paying off the holiday and the BA Holidays bonus

Had to be booked over the phone though as the website couldn't handle the route I wanted and kept on putting me into economy on one of the AA sectors.
