Just reopening the topic of parking at The Shay. Wanted to clarify two separate things:
1) As far as I understand parking at The Shay costs $50 overnight and is valet only, with no option to take the car in/out (which seems surreal for hotel parking). Regardless of the time of my arrival, if I choose to park the car at The Shay I will need to pay $50 per access to the car? Even if I arrive say at 16:00, and then want to take car out at 21:00 to go somewhere and come back at 22:00?
2) I'm much more interested in parking at Ivy Train station next door. Ideally I'd drive to The Shay from LAX, drop off the family with luggage, and then drive to the Ivy Station to park. A few questions here:
a) Is it a safe walk from the station to the hotel?
b) Is this a 24/7 parking lot? Meaning I can both leave the car overnight, and should I need to, retrieve it at whichever hour I want?
c) What is the pricing? I've read $18 per day or access, or $3 with a Metro card. If I'm not an LAX resident can I still get that $3 rate?
d) Last question, it has been a while since my last visit to Los Angeles. Is it safe to park a car inside one of these lots, or likely to attract petty crime/theft?
Any insights you guys could share would be much appreciated. Thank you
