Just adding to this thread with a permutation. I'm flying out of T3 tomorrow on a 9:35am AA flight to the US -- I won't have checked bags, but am only OW Ruby so no fast track checkin. I'm planning to take the Elizabeth line to the airport for the first time - is taking the train scheduled to arrive at LHR 2 hours before my flight safe? Not sure if there's a long walk from the underground station to security, or if I'm cutting it close without fast track security. Thanks for the advice.
Yes generally that is fine, given you’ve no checked bags it still gives you plenty of leeway.
But you should be aware that the Elizabeth Line and Heathrow Express (which share the same lines) do continue to be unreliable and indeed today there is a major problem. So you should have a backup plan - best involving the Piccadilly Line - in case you do encounter a big issue in the morning. That said, the likelihood is it’ll be fine.
Also - would recommend booking a Heathrow Timeslot security slot for T3. This is free and you’ve nothing to lose by booking it - it may save you a bit of time and you don’t have to use it if the normal route looks easier. You end up funnelled into the main security points anyway I think but the idea is it can allow you to jump a snaking line before that if there is one.
