I seem to recall almost identical responses when the issue of mobile phone use during taxi (after landing) was discussed on this very forum...and yet, the rules changed, shocking as it may seem. Rules around disease transmission have changed numerous times far more recently, some on the side of logic, others against.
And yes, I'm a random pundit, but I also happen to understand infectious diseases and transmission...feel free to browse my posting history.

Yes, you are free to question the rules but also BA are obliged to follow them, irrespective of your self referenced expertise or not. When, and if, they change, then BA will follow the new rules. Whether you agree with the logic, based upon your own reading of whatever books, articles, peer reviewed or otherwise is wholly irrelevant.
