So I took out the Curve card. MobilePay accepted it as debit card (so I can receive payments to it - didn't know it's possible in Finland) but haven't tried any transfers yet.

I made a couple of small online purchases, works well. The exchange rate seems to be 1-1,5% or so better than Aktia Visa (GBP/EUR) - if this holds, it's a considerable saving for hotel expenses abroad. I read the small print, so I WON'T use it for things prepaid, like flight tickets, as they won't be covered by consumer protection law in case of bankruptcy, etc

A pleasant surprise is the 1% "Curve money" after every transaction, basically a 1% cashback. It's an incentive to use it for everyday purchases as well, the monthly fee is easily covered this way

Getting deeper and deeper in the rabbit hole - to book simple hotel room, I go thru a cashback site*, then earn points and stay credits in the hotel loyalty program, then earn curve money and Avios as well when paying for the room,... do I still miss something?

* not a simple task either. E.g is It better to earn 3-4% in cash or 4 Avios/£?
