Downgraded and no refund?
Last December I used expiring miles to book round trip flights in suite between Singapore and Shanghai SQ826 and 827 for this December. Today I received emails notifying me that due to aircraft change, I was reassigned to a business class seat on both flights. The email says that "a refund of the fare difference between the different cabin classes will be accorded to your original form of payment" but it doesn't mention anything about redemption tickets.
I used the miles that were expiring at the end of last year to book flights 350 days out. Does that mean I won't receive any miles back now since they would have been expired? This is a very bad experience as I thought I didn't waste the miles. I would have selected a different destination if flying in business.
EDIT: I found available saver suite seats, but anything could happen between now and December....
