This is a new one to me, not sure being reported here before. AND, this is CONTRADICTORY with what previously found working solution. i.e. the previous solution(s) do not work as expected in this situation.
A trip booked on June 1st with a trip credit expired on June 19th, using full trip credit amount + CC payment of $11.
Just canceled the ticket today July 2nd. Received a FLIGHT CREDIT Notification WITHOUT ANY $ VALUE. In the AA Account, this Flight Credit shows up WITHOUT any Number nor Value. Just have the Record Locator, Trip Name, Issued: Saturday June 1, 2024 - that was the date the trip was ticketed, and Status : Flight Credit.
No Flight Credit Number, No Value either.
Called AA. The agent at first was puzzled on why it wasn't a Trip Credit being issued, plus no value assigned. She called help desk and found out the value of the Flight Credit. She said it was a Flight Credit because the ticket was booked with a Trip Credit. When a ticket was booked using Trip Credit, at cancellation even you paid with additional payment with CC you would get back a Flight Credit with the total ticket value (incl the part paid with CC).
Now this is not how the previous scenarios reported here. So I want to bring the attention to readers of this thread - the additional CC payment would not trigger a Trip Credit.
OTOH, if you have repriced a ticket for lower fare, then if you ended up cancelling the repriced ticket, even though it was booked with a Trip Credit, you still get back a new Trip Credit. I have posted such experience a couple pages back.
