And is it not walkable to anything?
There's been spirited discussion about this topic for years, both in this and in the HR thread.

I've spent a few hundred nights in HK hotels over the past decade+, and I've always disliked the GH's location. I would posit that for getting around HK for most touristy things, HR TST (which is directly connected to a MTR line) is a better choice than the GH. I often have dinner or drinks in Sheung Wan or Kennedy Town, and unless I manage to miss the last train, it's no more than 15-20 minutes to HR TST. No worse than the GH, maybe quicker if you factor the walk from Wanchai station. Now, if you rely on taxis, staying on HK Island is obviously quicker and cheaper, but the taxi rank at the GH can be horrible at times IME.

There's little to nothing of interest in the immediate vicinity of the GH, although if you enjoy wandering aimlessly, Wanchai and Causeway Bay can be interesting. However, if you're into those types of strolls, you might as well be staying anywhere & just take the MTR or bus to explore various parts of the city.

Regarding pricing, I'm surprised to see so many reviews mentioning high rates at the GH. For several of my recent and upcoming visits, HR TST has been relatively expensive (HKD 2000-ish) and the GH relatively cheap. In fact, I ended up booking two stays at the Grand in August, at HKD 1600 a night (vs 1350 at HR TST). Despite the IMO inferior location, the GH is a steal if you can get it for HKD 2000 or less.
