Same as Harry Secombe (for older frequent flyers). He appeared, shrugged his shoulders, grinned and the whole audience burst into hysterical laughter. I never got that either.
But without him, we'd never have had the Goon Show, so that gave him a lot of license in my eyes for his limitations as a one man act.
