You disagree with me on locations as always. But the market doesn't - a high end hotel in a good location in central like MO or TST Rosewood/Peninsula is multiples the rate of GH.
The GH is cheaper than those locations because it has a bad location and meh service. It's a convention hotel so can justify its high rates. There's nothing particularly compelling within walking distance outside of convention space.
Try walking to a key meeting in central from the GH. Where are you going to go in HKs heat or rain? And it's not particularly close to the good shopping, touristy areas.
But like always, you don't like my views on locations. I was just at ritz in Shanghai 2 weeks ago - once again a bad location unless your an expat without a clue how to get around Shanghai. Portman is for foreigners, not locals
