I'm a Hyatt loyalist but HK is one town I stock w Marriott - JW or Sheraton. I'll sale HR over GH too. I've been staying at GH for 20 years but never by choice.

The GH charges more but if you look at the price per square meter they're pretty comparable to the HR most of the time.

Service-wise, I'd say Scott and his lounge team are standouts but the rest is what you've described - although they did do something nice for us for my spouse's birthday, I agree with the description for day-to-day interactions.

With regards to the review - having had both restaurant buffet and lounge breakfasts, I actually prefer the lounge. Smaller and less people, the selection is smaller but higher quality IMO. Their cocktail presentation is pretty substantial though, to the point that we actually paid to bring in my in-laws a couple of times during our stay. If you haven't tried it, I'd recommend anyone with lounge access do it at least once.

Honesty I'd love to go back to the HR but have a hard time justifying the premium given my needs and personal circumstances. I love the lounge service and the location works well for me, but the HR TST's location also works...
Yeah, I’m at HR TST now and really don’t get the price difference. The room is less stylish than the GH, but the bed is slightly better, the shower has great pressure and is slightly larger, and the interior connection to MTR is great. The HR also offered me restaurant breakfast, which I’m enjoying now - good quality.

I am not a fan of the Renaissance as the bed was uncomfortable, and the JW lounge was not my favorite for breakfast. I recently stayed in a standard room at the Sheraton, which was very small - while the GH is definitely larger, the HR Harbour view room also seems to be a good size (and was cheaper than the Sheraton and far cheaper than the GH).
