Agree, the craziness of this now is almost freakish. Years back I had a wacky "friend" who prided himself on how he could poach F seats. He had all the usual tricks like boarding last, minimal carryon bags, window seat if possible, and others I don't even remember. This was back in the day when FA's didn't have computerized seating charts at there immediate disposal. But even he would never push it as some of the above stories have noted! He generally just said basically sorry and went to his seat in the back of the plane with his tail between his legs.
