Even when it's obvious, the GA may let you slip by anyway. Is that policy?

One day a couple of months back following preboarding, the call was for F/100Ks, and 18 lined up and were let through. How could that be with 12 F seats and I as a 75K was #1 on the waitlist?

I wrote Customer Care at Alaska, but never heard back.
