It's not clear that the OP simply asked "what gate is BAnnn" in Flounge. Even shorter version: the responsibility is on the traveller to do something.
In short, nothing to with BA, they can do no wrong. It’s the OPs fault for not asking the right questions and believing what the app and BA staff told them.
