BA's limited route network, especially in the Pacific, means they're really not a viable alternative for most US-based frequent travelers.
But the Oneworld emerald status is vastly superior to Star Alliance gold (gets you first-class lounge access, etc.). So you can always fly on Cathay or Qatar, which are among the best biz classes in the world.
