Many people don't realise it, but this is one reason to stress less, and actually makes tight connections easier. I actually find it more stressful if I have to find and queue at a central transit security point than the setup at Changi. Effectively, as long as the flight hasn't closed, once you've reached that security checkpoint you've made it to the flight.
Obviously would prefer to not have to deal with security at all (for example if doing D->I transfer in the US, or indeed many transfers at European airports), but if you do have to deal with it, the SIN approach works well. Not so long ago, arrived about 1 hr late from MEL, with pax transferring to LHR having 20 mins before their flight departed. Luckily their gate was only 2 or 3 gates over and they would have all easily made it. If you had to go to a central security point, queue with every other transiting passenger, and make it back to where you just came from, don't like the chances ....
