Spot on. Military boarding in SAN is often 30+ legitimate military passengers, and with no enforcement beyond the honor system, it sometimes (rarely, in my experience) turns into a free for all. I would not say it’s a real problem, but I think it makes sense to modify the military boarding policy, at least in SAN, for the same reason airlines modify family boarding policies in Orlando.
I suppose nothing should surprise me in today's world but it takes a pretty miserable person to fake being military just to get on a plane early.
Fwiw, today at OGG the new policy was carried out. FC got called right after disabilities and before kids. I missed the call for military or it might have been after I boarded.
