To provide information for someone who stumbles upon this thread: setting aside whether MH can accommodate with or without fees, if missing the connecting MH88 flight, there is MH70 departing 09:40 the following day; NH816 departing 08:00. Just a couple of options to get you to Tokyo, which may be helpful to know.

As of July 2024, MH Golden Lounge at KUL Satellite Terminal is open 24 hours. It has two nap rooms, each with three chaise lounge type of sofa; if they are occupied, the is an airside transit hotel. Of course, there are other hotels if you can and choose to enter Malaysia. In comparison, TG Royal Silk and Royal Orchid lounges at BKK are closed for several hours so overnight stay is not allowed; same for BR and SQ lounges. However, other lounges at BKK, such as TK lounge is open 24 hours.

Plenty of time to arrange at transfer desks, or even to pass immigration and re-check if necessary.
Sorry about the typo causing confusion. I have a non-protected 65-minute layover in KUL. I have corrected the MH flight arrival time in the original post.
