That's one of the old DL gates and for the most part gate space was not an issue when DL was there, even with DL being mostly mainline. The challenge was typically congestion at the very end of the E pier (E16/E17) when those two gates were boarding simultaneously along with E14 just next to it. That being said the passenger profile could alter the behavior somewhat (more connecting pax on UA vs. DL being mostly O&D).

Pretty much a dearth of food and beverage options down that way though.
