And the cost of meals, lodging, etc in case of missed connection is capped at $250 pp.

I don't think most of us have an IDC Platinum Card, which those T&C cover.
The potentially applicable coverage for US issued cards is trip interruption coverage, and for both AMEX and CSP, the definition of "covered loss" does not cover mx delay.
