To clarify, that works if you teach people to use
IBJoel style mentions in their reply - a simple traditional quote doesn’t count as a mention.
For what it’s worth, I have not received a single notification for
notquiteaff style mentions since the quote notification feature was removed. Definitely
not a workaround.
