I had something similar happen to my wife and myself when flying CE. A member of the cabin crew came up from the ET section with a passenger and asked if they could put them in the middle seat as they had a tight connection at LHR. I politely said to the crew member that the middle seat was specifically blocked by BA as it is a CE cabin. The crew member said oh I didn't realise that and the passenger and crew member then return behind the curtain.
this sometimes happens shortly before landing. As someone who sometimes has tight connections and occassionally looks for a little help getting off quickly if the flight is late, i have no problem returning the courtesy, if the flight is late
