Unfortunately, the macaron ice cream was missing at breakfast yesterday morning - worst hotel ever! I jest - the Sheraton remains a decent value for Hong Kong as I paid 1400 HKD, but the standard-sized room really is quite cramped. Here are my impressions:
Neutral:
- Arrived around 12:30 PM, was offered a Harbour View standard room, asked about suites and was told it wouldn’t be Harbour view and not ready until 3 PM - as I was very sweaty and wanted to shower, I picked the Harbour view on the 8th floor that was ready now
Pros:
- While firm, the bed is generally comfortable - covers not super thick but decent for Hong Kong summer, mattress on the firm side, plush pillows
- Shower pressure is good if you angle the wand of the bath tub to the shower side and combine it with the rainfall head as they are on separate controllers
- Great views - for sure
- Offered late checkout proactively - no issue with 4 PM
- Towels are nice and soft
- Club lounge isn’t bad - no real afternoon tea service, but evening service had decent desserts (and fried foods I didn’t try)
- Breakfast (only in the restaurant) is good - good omelet and hashbrowns, good cappuccinos, waffles decent, pancakes bad (avoid those)
Cons:
- Standard sized room is quite small, especially in the bathroom with very little moving space
- Internal noise isolation isn’t the best with hallway noise
- No streaming options on the TV
I would come back despite the shortcomings because of the price.
