I just did the walk to In-N-Out and back on Thursday night. I recommend walking straight over on World Way and then turning left on Sepulveda. Cutting through the parking lot is doable, but it's a bit of a maze with construction and you can easily end up walking in a roadway dodging Ubers.

There were traffic cops at the Lincoln Blvd crosswalk, so that crossing was very smooth. Only slightly hairy moment was crossing the on-ramp from Sepulveda to Vicksburg, but there is a crosswalk and drivers stopped in both directions.

Saw plenty of pedestrians, including a few young women dragging rollaboards down Sepulveda.
