This sound like a missed connection. You arrived the next morning. It's unfortunate and inconvenient, but I'm not sure that qualifies as a "horrible Southwest experience". If you submit your story to Southwest for additional compensation, I would keep your narrative factual.
You cannot submit your story to Southwest if the goal is a voucher. The response from customer service will point you to the exact same voucher request page that I already linked above which has no fields for verbiage/stories/explanations/pleas to a higher authority. How do you tell a story if your mouth is being taped up? How do you tell them about the hot temperatures on the plane in Dallas? Or the lack of a hotel voucher? You don't. There is no way to do it.
