I did a 50min connection BKK-SIN-AKL on one ticket last week with SQ with no issues and all bags made the AKL flight, The inbound flight was assigned to T1, resulting in some very fast walking to get to T3. It can work however lots of things need to align as mentioned above.

Whilst it is doable, taking an earlier flight is the better option if available.
