AA's XLR will have 20 FSS; 12 PE and 120 - 123 MC (I think 2 -3 rows will be MCE) for a total of 150 to 153, about the same as a A320. So the 4 FA should be perfect. The NEO with 196 seats have 4 that includes 20 FC and 35 MCE with the rest being MC and service has been good to great on my past flights.
The difference is that the XLRs will be running premium transcon and Europe. Domestically there’s going to be more workload between J and PE compared to regular domestic F on a A321neo; and internationally more in all cabins.
Perhaps AA will try to do a bare bones staffing of 4 for the transcons (coach often only gets 1 beverage service these days anyway on the transcons), and 5 internationally.
