do these rules apply to all Canadian airports when connecting from US to another INTL destinations ?
I am connecting through YUL on a similar itinerary and wondering if I need to clear customs at YUL just like YYZ
Your friends were given bad info as this is a function of how various airport terminals are configured. The Intl to Intl procedure at YYZ T3 is different than at YYZ T1. YYZ T1 allows for bypassing immigration and customs, only requiring a passport scan during the connection. This is all assuming bags are checked through which would be the case in most instances. I believe YUL operates the same way as YYZ T1.
