glad I am not the only one - but since we are now sharing our experiences - the young ladies working the desk (i.e. that pivot to get keys and run the computer and credit card machine) had an even bigger attitude.
while the place looked nice - as a non guest, I was completely underwhelmed by the experience (bar, restaurants, food, room service brought the wrong food, beach, views, desk staff, no lounge coffee, etc)
not implying that I "stay" in rooms when not a guest - but I often, for work reasons as I live on the Island, have meals/drinks/business meetings at the hotels in the area - and given the options (Andez, Fairmount, 4S, Marriott) the G.W. seemed like the least appealing - and the valet experience tipped me over the edge (ha ha - get it?)
the point being - I live and work on the Island with many colleagues who get asked where to stay when family, friends, colleagues come to Maui to visit and it is stuff like this that becomes a focal point of our recommendations
but, I guess they have so many high end customers, doubt they really care...
