Irrespective of the brand, handing over a bag to any airline which costs more than what is in it seems somewhat reckless. As I rarely check baggage I do not have experience however since one of the reasons that I will not check bags is because tales have abounded about pilfering from luggage, I would have thought that such a bag would be a magnet.
With all respect one pair of shoes can easily be worth that… For anyone who needs to look good on a trip there is unfortunately no choice. It’s a risk we all take unless we can afford to fly private, but I can’t even though the contents of my bags will usually exceed to cost of flying private. I’ve only ever had two bags go totally missing in over 30 years, so it’s.a risk I accept I have to self-insure.
