I (sort of) like Rimowa… for hand luggage. I like that their wheel system is excellent and they are harder to break into (at least the classic).

when it comes to checked bags I’d avoid them for the same reason I would personally not buy an expensive car. Inevitably, Sooner or later people will damage your stuff, and when it’s expensive one tends to forget it’s just stuff and feel more victimised about it than one would were it a cheap, old, ugly car. As for who will do the damage, it strikes me as random and largely irrelevant though of course you can wrap suitcases in plastic at many airports if you really want to protect them a little.
