If you don't have status on the day of travel, you don't get the status benefit of an extra piece of baggage.
The website will only show an extra piece of luggage for your bookings while you are logged in and while you currently have status; as soon as you drop to Explorer, you have lost status and you lose the extra piece of baggage on all forthcoming trips (including any trip that was already started while you held status).
