There certainly is, with sidewalks and signaled crosswalks. I often walk the reverse route when taking an hotel/rental car shuttle by getting off the shuttle at T1 and walking along East Way if headed to T6/T7.

Semi-related, but I've wondered about the parking garage route when headed to rideshare pickup or the Hyatt Regency. I noticed what appeared to be an overpass right at the T7 airside exit (going straight instead of heading down the escalator to the arrivals level). Thought it might save some time compared to waiting for the World Way crosswalk (which can take a long time). Is this not a good routing?

I do hope you mean between scheduled arrival and departure times, which are different from takeoff/landing time.
It hasn't been unusual for me to experience long taxi time to the UA gates (like 15+ minutes), especially if landing on the north runways.
