I am now trying to change the flight to Nov 1, 2024, but two agents have told me it's impossible because the new travel date (Nov 1 '24) is more than one year past the date I made the booking (Oct 12 '23). They are saying the only option is to cancel the flight to redeposit miles ($75/ticket, rather than the would-be $25/ticket change fee), then rebook the flight.

But I've read some forums and blogs (including the articles linked below), which appear to indicate that you CAN re-book a flight for a date that is more than a year past the date the booking was made, but you would be required to pay a miles "top up" if the new fare is more expensive (although in my case the mileage costs are the same).

I have also seen websites including Singapore airlines saying that changes must be made within a year of the booking date, but it's unclear if they mean I have to change the booking within one year of initial booking, or change the booking AND take the flight within one year of booking.

Can anyone confirm from experience is what the reps said accurate, or should I keep trying to call and find someone who can help me?

Then, a few days ago I had to change my ticket once again, this time for travel in Aug 2024. I had no issue having the dates/route changed and because it was an advantage ticket, I was also not charged a fee.

I found the chat agents to be more knowledgeable and helpful with the ticket changes vs. the phone agents. Two chat agents also confirmed to me that while for revenue tickets the new travel date needs to be max 1 year from original ticket issuance date, for award tickets it's 1 year from last ticket issuance date.

Of course, as always, YMMV
i find the bolded to be true. so either SQ has a new policy or it has always been like that, just that i didnt notice

while logged into my account, i try to change an SQ KF award flight to another date, keeping origin/destination the same. i can choose dates up till a year from last issuance date. i didnt check out, so i m not sure if it would have gone through. but when i select a day after last ticket issuance date, i cannot proceed to next screen

there is a change fee $25 and probably mileage difference, if applicable.
