From my understanding it's best to just check out and then back in for your return to Shanghai. The hotelRegistration process is taken seriously, even if your trip is short, so it may raise questions if you're still registered but not physically there. To keep things simple, I'd recommend having the hotel store your luggage for the 2 days and then re-register you upon your return. That way there's no issues.
