The AA/AS pairing is good advice. Adding potential of LA to Hawaii, Mexico, or NYC to the Caribbean then Oneworld is a good way to go. If she has Chase for Avios if she wants them, she should consider the Citi Executive Card. For what it offers, it's the best lounge access deal. I use the $10 GrubHub credit easily, too. Last month, I ordered a sandwich to pick up on my way home, so no fees and 5% back, and the entire price was wiped off. So $595 a year, - $120 Grubhub, plus full Admirals Club access--and any other partnerships; that's just one concrete example). Then at 50K Loyalty Points we get 10K and at 90K I get 10K more. That makes requalifying (for PPro in my case) 105K instead of 125K. This is how I view that. On the west coast, AA's alliance can get her anywhere. None of them is perfect, but based on her goals, this seems a solid pick. (Also, the AA lounge access includes a guest, and is the most generous of lounge access policies--at least so far....).
