Just finished a China trip and took a couple MU flights as VS Gold. Earned points and tier points according to the VS MU partner page, gold bonus applied. Points took maybe 1 week to show up.
MU system doesn’t recognize VS status during online check-in (unlike DL Plat which will show up on electronic boarding pass) but will add SkyPriority on paper boarding pass…we have DL Plat and VS Gold, DL Plat showed DL ELIT SKY PRIORITY while VS Gold showed only SKY PRIORITY.
In terms of benefit:
- Preferred seat: No / Exit row not allowed (with app or customer service line, explicitly told that’s not a benefit for non-MU elites)
- Business/First Check-in: Yes
- Extra Luggage: Allowed for additional 20kg each, MU domestic uses weight concept
- Priority Security: Yes (we just point at the SKY PRIORITY on our boarding pass and worked on both airports)
- Priority Boarding: was allowed in the SP line, MU doesn’t have boarding group it seems
- Lounge: No for domestic (had to use priority pass)
- Greetings during flights: Maybe? For one flight, we were greeted by last names at our seat and given a bottle of water that doesn’t seem to be handed out to everyone? Not sure, we were sleepy…
Best way to get Flying Club added to the ticket is to call…because we added it during booking and many times on the English website but it never applied. The customer service line will not be able to confirm your VS status (we were told MU can’t see at the moment) but you should see SP sign on paper boarding pass if accepted.
