I’m trying to understand a strategy to accelerate BIS MM miles to places I want to go. Maybe I misunderstand, but I thought all travel counts toward MM, except Delta BE? If the MM bucket becomes my priority, and because MQM gone/MQD hit for year, I no longer am concerned about fare class on partner airlines. It can go back to old school mileage run cost/mile at any fare class across any delta partner?
Did you note the text from the program rules I quoted above about BE and "similar fares" on partners not counting?
So this could potentially end up excluding partner "Light" fares from MM credit as they could certainly be considered to be "similar" to DL BE fares. As also noted above, AF/KL don't have a separate booking class for their "Light" fares (you can only distinguish them by their 8 letter fare basis codes which have a 'B' in second to last letter). So DL may not be able to tell them apart from their regular Economy fares. VS has a separate booking class for their "Economy Light" fares ('T') which would presumably make it easier for DL to identify them as they don't need to look at the fare basis code.
I'd be hesitant to book a VS Economy Light fare until someone confirms these will earn MM miles. They do still earn redeemable miles towards Skymiles, so that is a difference betweem them and DL BE fares and perhaps they will earn MM miles too.
