Agree that for ATL the big question is where they would put it, and given the volume of D1 departures, it would need to be on par with the JFK lounge in terms of size. E feels the most logical and they'd almost certainly have to build up or out. They'd need an appealing way to get people over to F, and clearly a direct checkpoint-to-lounge experience would not be a possibility.
I agree that Concourse E feels like the most likely location, especially given that F is shared with a lot of non-SkyTeam intl airlines. That being said you do lose that direct TSA-to-lounge experience as you point out.
It feels like a Concourse E D1 Lounge would need to be all-new construction. Perhaps Delta is waiting to incorporate it into a larger E modernization project? E feels so out of date at this point. All speculation on my part. And the Atlanta Airport planning site is so out of date it’s really difficult to find any of their plans for the airport beyond the D widening and small E extension.
