Update: with a couple of days to go I settled on Burlington for its proximity to the mall and to try a new hotel (since I did Newton 6 years ago) and thought I should try something new with rylan saying it had a M Lounge now and WillTravel4Food providing "North" options in the event going south is a no-go (and thus closer to some beaches too).
I feel I must warn you, out of obligation. Beware that if you do find reason to go north and want to go to the beach, it's
Greenhead Season. There's a reason some of these beaches post signs saying things like "It's Greenhead season. No refunds" before you pay to park. Their bites are nasty, painful things. This alone could find you preferring to wade through the cape traffic. One saving grace, beaches along the south shore of Cape Ann (Beverly to Rockport) usually aren't bothered by Greenheads.
