Switching Loyalty Program for Star Alliance Gold Benefits on Air Canada Booking

Hi everyone, potential stupid question here!

I booked a flight on Air Canada from NRT to YVR and entered my Aeroplan number during the booking. Since then, I’ve acquired Star Alliance Gold status via the KrisFlyer status matching program with Marriott. However, I don't have any special status with Aeroplan.

Can I still receive the Star Alliance Gold benefits? Do I need to change the loyalty program attached to my ticket? I checked under "Manage Bookings" on the Air Canada website, but the Aeroplan number seems to be hard-coded, and I can’t find a way to change it.

I know this might be a basic question, but any advice or guidance would be really appreciated.

Thanks in advance!
