You may want to actually buy the replacement Avios rather than just use their price in the claims process.
That is the difference between claiming for an actual reasonable expense incurred as part of duty of care and the alterative view of using a disruption to convert an intangible asset to cash at a favourable rate.
I have no experience in these matters, so would be interested to know of it makes a difference.
