I really enjoyed my 2nd stay at the world’s 2nd tallest hotel (and per the literature in the room, the world’s tallest 5-star hotel - haha!). Perhaps, the suite upgrade really elevated my experience here compared to 2022. Here are my impressions:

Pros:
  • No upgrade showed up in app - I think the property is so big that they do upgrades at the moment, which makes sense - asked at check-in and was blocked in a lovely Deluxe Corner Suite on a high floor of Tower B (same building and elevator bank as the 37th floor lounge - convenient) - had to wait a bit in the lounge but was in the room by 14:00
  • Amazing views of Downtown Dubai and Burj Khalifa - exhilarating to stand on the window sill and look down at the cars going by (and being stuck in traffic) below
  • Very nice design - has aged well
  • Bed is pretty comfortable - mattress is definitely on the firmer side but this one seemed to have a bit of a topper, plush covers, plush pillows
  • Shower pressure from the rainfall head is great
  • Comfortable furniture
  • Fast and responsive YouTube app on the TVs
  • Fun towel animal given during turndowns
  • Despite no in-room welcome gift, was given a box of assorted dates at check-out
  • Offered 4 PM late checkout proactively
  • Amazing elevators! Love the three scenic elevators and so many buttons!
  • Lounge was nice - just pound cake at afternoon tea, but evening service had a nice mojito, baked potato station (really good beef bacon and cheese - I had three potatoes), and good chocolate cake
  • Lounge breakfast was good - omelet station, good pancakes, etc.
  • Service was consistently friendly

Neutral:
  • Definitely not the strongest air con - warms up a bit with the window coverings opened - but I slept fine and was never overly hot

Cons:
  • Suite definitely had a smokey smell, but I wasn’t going to trade away the suite or view and it was easy to get used to and not notice after a minute
  • Couple of missed long hair bundles in the bathroom

I will definitely come back.
