I've stayed at the GH DFW intermittently for 15 years. At one time it was likely my favorite hotel in the entire United States. While still a good to very good property, there were some clear signs of decline since my last stay nearly two years ago.
- The room was not as clean as it should have been. I'm not sure if it wasn't vacuumed, or was vacuumed poorly, but the same pieces of string and debris remained in place on the carpet for the duration of my stay.
- The side table in the executive suite living room was wobbly, and the glass insert was loose. A chair at the Grand Met bar was also broken to the point of being unusable, although the bartender didn't seem to care much when I brought it to his attention.
- Like many properties this one has made the transition to wall-mounted toiletries. They did at least have tamper proof seals.
- Housekeeping came once, mid stay, and did not replenish bottled water or toilet paper. Both were rectified by a text to the front desk. However...
- ...the front desk "welcome" text message didn't arrive until the evening before departure.
- It appears turndown service (for Globalists?) has been discontinued, or at least I didn't receive it either night.
- Until somewhat recently, even after the discontinuation of the Diamond welcome amenity, this property would send something up via room service. That has been replaced by some prepackaged snacks provided by the front desk at check in.
I'm also surprised the rooms haven't received a more proper refresh in years. I like the design overall, but the showers are the smallest in the Western Hemisphere and there isn't enough lighting.
On a positive note, service was (nearly) uniformly excellent as always, and the runway views on the west side and from the rooftop pool deck are fantastic. Food in the restaurant and lounge is still very good.
